New Hochstein Holiday Prism Concert

Rochester, NY –Holiday offerings are abundant in Rochester and Hochstein is adding to the musical cacophony with Ghost of Christmas Futuretheir new Holiday Prism Concert, featuring members of the talented Hochstein faculty, on Thursday, December 15 at 7:00pm in the Hochstein Performance Hall.

 

The light-hearted musical fare will be performed in the unique format of a “prism concert” where the continuous flow of music is performed without interruption in various areas of the Hall.  This interactive concert will have soloists, duets, trios, and larger ensembles rotate sets throughout the evening, allowing the audience to encounter each group on different levels and in differing moods.

 

Voice Dept. Chair Bill Scott narrates ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas accompanied by flutes, and percussionist Ivan Trevino. Solo presentations by vocal faculty members Sandra Boysen, Maria Battista-Hancock, Laura Schweibacher, and Allyn Van Dusen with accompaniment provided by instrumental faculty on violin, Pia Liptak and Katie Worley, guitar, John Wiesenthal, and piano, Doleen Hood and Willie La Favor. Dancers Cheryl Johnson and Christopher Morrison will present the Ghost of Christmas Past & Scrooge from A Christmas Carol accompanied by Hochstein Dean and Co-Chair of the Piano Dept., Gary Palmer, who also solos on variations of Greensleeves. The Fundamentals of Music Dept. will perform works of Carl Orff and Hochstein resident ensembles Fem Vindar: A Woodwind Quintet and the Plymouth Brass Quintet will present traditional Christmas music, while Old English standards on flute by Rita George-Simmons and handbells by Katie Worley will complete the family fun evening.

The performance will be followed by an artist reception with refreshments. General admission is $5.
