Received Level I Orff certification through the Eastman School of Music. Developed Music to Grow program for children ages 18 months to 5 years. Currently teaching early childhood programs at the Penfield and Perinton recreation centers.

 

ROSEMARY WARING EICHENLAUB

Joined Hochstein faculty in: 2007

 Educator in the Rochester City School District for 34 years, during which she was a mentor teacher for nine years. Received Orff training at Hamline University and the Eastman School of Music. Multiple listings in "Who's Who Among American Educators" and "Who's Who Among American Women." Recipient of the 1998 RPO Music Educator's Award.

 

Hometown: Saratoga Springs, NY.

Favorite place to travel: Anywhere in the Caribbean , on the west coast of the US.

Favorite or most influential teachers were: Robert Hobsteter.

When I’m not at Hochstein, you can find me: at Nazareth College, on the tennis court, ballroom dancing, skiing, reading, at the theater, at a concert or eating out with friends.

My favorite book is: The Secret Life of Bees.

Favorite things to do in Rochester are: to attend the Jazz Festival, walk in Highland Park or along the canal, listen to the many concerts that are presented in so many venues.

People would be surprised to know that I: have 2 adopted Korean children, and have been to El Salvador to visit my sponsored child.

What I most admire about my students is: they are so enthusiastic and adorable!!

My favorite restaurant is: Bistro 135.

 

JENNIFER TRIMBLE FORD

Instrument/Department: Music FUNdamentals

Joined Hochstein Faculty in: 2009

 Master of Music degree in Flute Performance from Peabody Conservatory; Bachelor of Music degree from Ithaca College. Formerly principal piccolo of the Fort Wayne Philharmonic Orchestra. Currently teaches music to students of all ages and works with special needs children at the Lois E. Bird Elementary School (East Rochester).

 

Hometown: Fairport, NY

Favorite place to travel: Acadia National Park in Maine.

Favorite or most influential teachers were: Joanna Bassett, Laurie Sokoloff.

When I’m not at Hochstein, you can find me: reading or working on our new house!

People with whom/Places I’ve performed include: Fort Wayne Philharmonic, Largely Ludwig, Sinfonietta Cordancia.

My favorite book is: anything by Jane Austen and Kate Atkinson.

Favorite things to do in Rochester are: eating at the many fantastic restaurants, hiking, and going to as many of the great performances and festivals as possible.

What I most admire about my students is: their wonderful enthusiasm for music and movement!

My favorite restaurant is: a tie between Sticky Lips and the Crab Shack.

 

 

REBECCA GEBLEIN

Rebecca GebleinInstrument/Department: Music FUNdamentals, voice

Joined Hochstein Faculty in: 2011

 

Bachelor of Music degree with a concentration in Music, Cum Laude, with voice as her instrument from Nazareth College where she is pursuing the Master of Education degree with a concentration in Music. Has received New York State Initial Certification in Music (ages birth-grade 12) and is working toward Initial Certification in Early Childhood Education.

 

Hometown:  Lancaster, NY (outside of Buffalo)

Favorite place to travel:  Anywhere that includes family!

Favorite or most influential teachers were:  Mr. Gary M. Lee, Alice Pratt and Mrs. Linda Koziol

When I’m not at Hochstein, you can find me: At Nazareth College

Favorite things to do in Rochester are: Walk on the canal or spend a day at Charlotte Beach

People would be surprised to know that I: Played the steel drums for 6 years.

What I most admire about my students is: their passion and love of music and life in general!

 

CHARLOTTE GIEBEL

 Master of Theological Studies degree from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary; Bachelor's degree in Music Education from Queens College of the City University of New York. Received Orff I, II, and III certification, and training in Orff, Kodaly and Dalcroze. Elementary General Music Mastership Certification, University of Buffalo,  Gordon Institute for Music Learning, July 2011. Currently coordinates choral and instrumental music for Covenant Presbyterian Church.

 

Hometown: Rochester.

Favorite place to travel: France.

When I’m not at Hochstein you can find me at: the Cobblestone School.

People with whom/Places I’ve performed include: The Cathedral Choir School.

My favorite book is: the Bible.

Favorite things to do in Rochester are: play with my grandchildren, visit Highland and Ontario Beach Parks, attend concerts.

People would be surprised to know that I: was born in Nigeria.

What I most admire about my students is: their delight in life.

 

MARIANNA GONZALEZ

Joined Hochstein Faculty in: 1993

 

Bachelor of Music degree with High Distinction from the Eastman School of Music. Received Orff I, II, and III certification. Member of the American Recorder Society and the Rochester Chapter of the American Orff Schulwerk Society. Currently teaches Orff at Allendale-Columbia School.

 

BOZENA GRANAT

Instrument/Department: Music FUNdamentals, Piano

Joined Hochstein Faculty in: 2011

 

Master of Music Degree in Musicology and Music Education from Jagiellonian University (Cracow, Poland); Double major in Piano Performance and Eurhythmics from the State Conservatory of Music (Rzeszów, Poland); Music Teacher Certification Program from the University of Massachusetts (Amherst). Ms. Granat has extensive teaching experience in many school districts in the Greater Rochester area and in Dalton, Massachusetts. She is currently an instructor of "Children Making Music" in the Community Music Program at Nazareth College and the Music Director of the Children's Choir at St. Stanislaus Church.

 

JANIE MARINI

Bachelor's degree in Music Education from Nazareth College as well as Early Childhood Music and Orff Levels I, II, and III certification from the Eastman School of Music. Has taught piano since 1981 and has extensive experience as a Pastoral Musician and Choir Director throughout the Rochester area. Currently Director of Music for the Fairport Community Vacation Bible School.

 

ALICE S. PRATT

PRATTInstrument/Department: Music FUNdamentals; Choral Ensembles

Director of the Hochstein Little Singers and instructor for FUNdamental classes, Alice Sciscioli Pratt is former winner of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra’s Music Educators Award, and multiple year inductee in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers. In addition to her work at Hochstein, Alice is also on the faculty of Nazareth College of Rochester. Alice taught music for the Rochester City Schools for 33 years. She currently serves as the National Conference Co- Chairperson for the American Orff Schulwerk Association Professional Development Conference in Pittsburgh, PA. Previously, Alice served on the AOSA National Board of Trustees, and continues as column coordinator for OPUS: Orff Programs in Urban Schools in Reverberations, their quarterly newsletter. Alice is a published composer and author, and frequent presenter for AOSA, Canada Orff, and the New York State School Music Association. Alice is an alumna of Nazareth College of Rochester where she received her BS in Music Education, and did her post graduate work at the Eastman School and SUNY Fredonia. She is a certified Orff Schulwerk instructor.

Favorite or most influential teachers were: Music teachers, social studies teacher.

When I’m not at Hochstein, you can find me: at Nazareth College, working out, walking or at home with my family.

People with whom/Places I’ve performed include: John Denver, workshops given throughout the US and Canada.

My favorite book is: Gone With the Wind.

My pets include: Dog, Sammy.

Favorite things to do in Rochester are: teaching at Hochstein and Nazareth(!), concerts, and hanging with friends.

People would be surprised to know that I: am 100% Italian.

What I most admire about my students is: their amazing abilities and their joy for music making.

My favorite restaurant is: Chen Garden.

 

LISA SALVAGGIO-CLARK

Instrument/Department: Music FUNdamentals, Voice

Joined Hochstein faculty in: 2011

 Lisa Clark, a Kendall, NY native, is a graduate of Nazareth College of Rochester. She currently holds a bachelor degree in Music Education with a concentration in vocal performance. Lisa loves to teach as well as perform and has received awards pertaining to both disciplines including the Nazareth College choral student teaching award and the 2009-2010 Concerto/Aria competition winner at Nazareth college. Lisa is no stranger to the community, as she frequently spends time substitute teaching and performing locally. Although classically trained, Jazz music is where her heart lies. Lisa recently performed for the 2010 International Jazz Festival with The Scandals blues band. Inspired by every one of her students, Lisa loves to teach all ages to love music as she does!

Favorite place to travel: Alexandria Bay, NY.

Favorite or most influential teachers were: my music teachers.

When I’m not at Hochstein, you can find me: teaching or singing somewhere.

People with whom/Places I’ve performed include: Nazareth College, International Jazz Festival 2010, Krakow Poland, St. Anthony’s Cathedral, Blue Cross Arena, Finger Lakes Community College, The Scandals Blues Band, Loose Change Jazz band, The Lisa and Frans Duo, Amedeus Chorale, Nazareth College Chamber Choir.

My favorite book is: Esio Trot by Roald Dahl.

My pets include: a dog named Rusty, a cat named Mauwi, and 3 gold fish named little fish, big fish and fat fish!

Favorite things to do in Rochester are: going to music festivals and concerts at the Blue Cross Arena.

People would be surprised to know that I: own my own kayak and spend as much time as I can kayaking.

What I most admire about my students is: Their willingness to try something new.
