Chamber Music

 

Students entering grades 6-12 and adults can discover the fun and challenge of playing in a small ensemble! Trios, quartets, and quintets are formed of players with compatible ages and abilities.

 

Chamber Music Connection

for students in grades 6-12 and adults who play at NYSSMA Level 3-6, or the equivalent

Weekly one-hour sessions will be scheduled at times mutually agreeable among ensemble members and coach.

Chamber Music Connection offers fun and challenging opportunities to play a unique and crucial role in a small group setting and helps develop musicianship as well as personal skills such as cooperation, leadership, poise, focus, and self-awareness. Trios, quartets, and quintets are formed of players with compatible ages and abilities, as permitted from the pool of applicants. Open to piano, strings, woodwinds, and brass. Opportunities and benefits of the program include: a minimum of 30 coachings during the 36-week school year with members of the Hochstein faculty, Antara Winds (guest artist woodwind quintet), master classes with guest artists, and performance opportunities at Hochstein and throughout the Greater Rochester area.

 

Fee: $10 registration fee; $432* yearly tuition payable in quarterly installments of $108 each. For students enrolled in individual lessons at Hochstein, yearly tuition is $360 payable in quarterly installments of $90.

 

Chamber Music Connection Honors Ensembles: Based on individual placement auditions, a limited number of merit scholarships may be awarded to students who are in grades 9-12, who play at NYSSMA Level 6 or the equivalent, and who are studying with a private teacher. Honors Ensembles are expected to give several performances at Hochstein and in the community throughout the year. Upon confirmation, each group will receive specific registration information and curriculum requirements. Participants pay only an $80 Honors Ensemble fee.
